A Victorian Salt Cellar

A Victorian Salt Cellar

25.00

I can find no satisfactory record as to why they were called salt cellars but I know it had nothing to do with the dark spidery places below stairs. Add this little gem to your dining table and when conversation falters …. off you go discussing the dolphin - a very common motif once considered to be King of the Fish (despite being a mammal) and from the 13th century onwards the badge of the County of Dauphine in France and adopted by the Dauphin, a name later given to the sons of the King. 4.5cms high.
